To you, the parent: To tell you the truth, until my wife and I had our first child in May of 2007, I really didn't understand just how it must feel to say goodbye to your child and leave them in the care of someone else. Becoming a parent however has made me appreciate just what a precious responsibility you leave with us every Friday night here at the Stand. So allow me to say it how it is: You are the parent, nothing can replace that and no one is more committed to your child then you are. Our purpose is to come along side you, working together to Connect, Develop, and Empower your child for an amazing adulthood. This page is designed to give you some information from a parents perspective about the youth ministry of C3 Watson. I hope you find it answers some of the questions you may have. The Stand is the youth group of Christian City Church Watson for young people in grade 6-12 (11-18 years). We meet each Friday night during the school term. The Stand is led by a dedicated and passionate team of youth ministers and leaders and headed up by Youth Pastor's Nathan and Lisa Oliver. Our message is simple: Jesus Christ is the Son of God, He is the Light and the Truth and the only way to real Life. We love and live for Him. Our youth program involves music, connect groups, games, events, camps and conferences and community outreach. The safety of your child is our highest priority. Doors open at 7pm and every element of the nightly program is fully supervised. One of the members of our youth team is a practicing Registered Nurse and provides First Aid whenever required. We also ensure that a senior team member is stationed outside after all youth meetings to ensure safety in the car park. We insist on a signed permission slip from you for any youth event that is held off site. We appreciate and actively enforce appropriate age and gender interaction at any given youth meeting. Every young person is placed into a connect group when they become a member of The Stand, and every Connect group is age and gender appropriate. We have a large spread of ages attending The Stand and we work hard to create a good balance to reach all ages. Disruptive and disrespectful behaviour will not be tolerated at anytime, we reserve the right to call on you as the parent and pick your child up if behaviour is deemed an issue. At the beginning of every year, we hold a parents lunch on a Sunday afternoon to meet you face to face and tell you what we're about. Stay tuned in early 2009 for information about out next lunch. What you can do for us: Pray for us! We can't function with out all the prayer we can get! Support us by dropping your child off on time every Friday and being patient when they are late out (which they occasionally are!). Ask you child about their youth experiences. Support us by speaking well of us when other parents ask your opinion of us! And finally speak to us. Give us feedback. Help us to help you build your child. The good and the bad, we want to know! Thanks for your time! If you would like more information about The Stand, please contact the Christian City Church Office on 6241 7000.
